Santa Monica Sister City Association (SMSCA)
As a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, SMSCA relies on private citizens to support our many local and international activities that strengthen our partnerships and helps to provide support to students who qualify for our Ambassador Program but need financial assistance. The SMSCA has made donations of life-saving equipment, including fire trucks, buses, ambulances to Mazatlán, MX and made provisions of funds for medical procedures for a young girl in Mazatlán with facial anomalies. It has also sponsored the high school student ambassador program exchanges with Fujinomiya, Japan and Hamm, Germany as well as high school and college exchanges with Mazatlán, Mexico. Students from our Sister Cities have had four to six-week internships with the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, Santa Monica Travel & Tourism and various Santa Monica businesses. Over the years the SMSCA has participated in official adult visits and hosting adult delegations to our Sister Cities, including involvement with city officials, home stays, social events and tours of local attractions. Other activities such as sports tournaments in Santa Monica and Fujinomiya with youth from various Sister Cities were held along with Cultural exchanges with Sister Cities and Public education programs in Santa Monica focused on music, art and culture of our Sister Cities.
